JOB DETAILS:
Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Environmental Science and Management or Agricultural Land Use and Management from a recognized University/Institution and a minimum of a post graduate Qualification in Forestry or Agricultural Science or Agribusiness from a recognized University/ Institution. Must have undergone a Cadet Officers/ Command Course at Uganda Prisons Academy and Training School in case of uniformed staff.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience which should have been at the level of Forestry Officer/Assistant Superintendent of Prisons.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the for performing the following duties:-
– Participating in formulation, review and implementation of policies, legislation, standards, plans and strategies for sustainable harvesting and utilization of forestry resources by the Uganda Prisons Service;
– Planning, organizing, implementing and reporting on forestry resources management programmes and activities in the Uganda Prisons Service;
– Organising and implementing sensitization sessions on plans, programmes, strategies and guidelines for managers and staff of the Uganda Prisons Service in regard to National and Regional forest management strategies and initiatives;
– Establishing and maintaining working linkages and collaboration mechanisms with relevant National and International organizations to support agro-forestry and regional forestation projects, programmes and initiative by the Uganda Prisons Service;
– Preparing and disseminating technical guidelines, booklets and other printed materials on forestry resources management standards, procedures and practices for the Uganda Prisons Service;
