JOB DETAILS:
Reporting Lines
The Field Training Officer will report to the Project Coordinator-AMS and work in close collaboration with the WFP-Field Teams and the District Production Office.
The key tasks and responsibilities of the role include:
Specifically, the incumbent will carry out the following activities:
• Strengthen the capacity of farmer-based organizations (FBOs) in Organizational management and leadership;
• Guide development of viable commodity business plans and work plans among FOs
• Strengthen the savings and loan schemes (VSLAs) among FOs and monitor their performance
• Prepare training materials, modules with translation in local language on (i) Agronomy, ii) Post-Harvest Handling, iii) Farmer Institutional Development and Marketing.
• Train farmer groups in agronomy, postharvest handling and agribusiness/farming as a business
• Ensure balanced and gender-responsive participation of stakeholders in all activities
• Lead farmers, extension agents in the project area by organizing field demonstrations and practical sessions.
• Submit Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports to the Project Coordinator.

Minimum Required Skills and Experience
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Agriculture Extension, Agribusiness.
Experience:
• Must have experience in leading and /or training on crop agricultural value chains and extension, participatory capacity building approaches; Proven experience in designing training materials for farmers, extension and agrodealers, and conducting onsite farmer training workshops,
• At least 03 years experience of working in related field Strong reporting skills and ability to meet tight deadlines skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Good motorcycle riding skills and valid riding permit.

• Experienced in delivering training and other needed capacity/ institutional building support to a wide range of stakeholders including financial institutions;
• Effectively networks with partners seizing opportunities to build strategic alliances relevant to ACORD’s mandate and strategic agenda;
Language Requirement:
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required and fluency in either Luo, Kejong or Swahili will be an added advantage.
Other:
• Good knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office (word, excel, power point and statistical applications).
