Background

Enabel in Uganda will be implementing a new Country strategy 2023-2027.

The overall objective is of the interventions is that “Young people and women in Uganda develop into active, economically independent citizens in a sustainable society that respects human rights and ensures quality basic services’’.

Within this context, Enabel is seeking to recruit 1 (ONE) Environment and Climate Change Expert to support the different proejcts in this thematic area inorder to achieve the specific objectives of the country portfolio and the intervention.

Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities

  • You coordinate  and support the management of  initiatives related to strengthening job creation and value chains in the green economy by providing inputs for planning, designing,execution, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of activities in order to ensure that the results of the project are achieved within the set deadline;
  • You provide the necessary input in the area of environment,climate change and green economy in order to achieve the technical performance of the project in accordance with national and international standards;
  • You contribute to knowledge building management in the different projects in the the area of environment,climate change and green economy;
  • You support in the building of capacity of the partners in order to contribute to the improvement of their organisation processes, systems and staff competences.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Environment and Climate Change management, Energy, Green Economics, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering plus any other related studies in this field

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 5 years’ relevant work experience in conducting situation analyses and needs assessment related to environment, energy and climate change reform in developing countries;
  • At least 5 years’ relevant work experience in leading strategic planning and green growth strategies in climate-change reform work;
  • Relevant experience in facilitating dialogue among multi-disciplinary stakeholders at high political level to formulate, validate and adopt reform priorities;
  • Experience in conducting environmental due diligence and environmental impact;
  • Experience in working on multiple sustainable energy projects;
  • Excellent technical knowledge of green and circular economy sectors, preferably also with expertise in green construction;
  • Expertise in circularity and green economy;
  • Expertise in business and value chain development;
  • Leading, mentoring and coaching a team of professionals;
