Finnish Refugee Council (FRC) is an INGO promoting adult education and community development among refugees since 1997 as an operational partner to UNHCR and OPM and since 2020 implementing partner to WFP. FRC is seeking for suitably qualified and hardworking Ugandans to fill the following position:

Job purpose:

The primary responsibility is to provide professional technical day-to-day accounting services, to keep a clean accounting system and procedures, and ensure timely reporting and record keeping.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payment preparations

• Prepare service provider and field activity related payments, pre-check all bills.
• Handle petty cash payments as per approval limits and record transactions.
• Share Proof of Payments (POP) with Service Providers and ensure receipts are obtained.
• Assist on statutory payments (dues) and online payments to suppliers.

Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Follow up, receive, and track all accountability of advances that relate to different project staff and partners, and maintain, update their individual Advance Trackers.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Follow up the utilisation of advances against Partner monthly activity budgets.
• Reconcile mobile money and cash receipts accounts by 7th of every month.
• Assist and follow up on the partners monthly and annual income and expenditure
• statements preparation to aid in the final reporting to HQ and to donor.
• Ensure that all finance related documents are stored appropriately in the FRC electronic and physical filing systems.
• Ensure that standard financial accounting procedures, plus FRC Finance Manual
• accounting principles are adhered to.
• Assist in audits – HQ or at local level.
• Carry out field verification visits to the different Project areas when relevant.

Education & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• At least 2 years’ relevant experience in a finance role.
• Flexible with good reporting, communication, interpersonal skills, assertive and able to question unclear transactions.
• Able to work under pressure with competing deadlines.
• Able to work with a multi-cultural environment within the organization.
