SUMMARY

ChildFund Uganda is part of a consortium of 3 entities that is implementing a 3-year project in Kampala and Wakiso districts. The project focuses on strengthening child protection systems at national, district and community levels. The Program Manager will be the technical lead for ChildFund Uganda providing leadership to the implementing team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Take the lead in providing professional guidance to the project team for effective implementation of the project activities
  2. Participate in technical and financial monitoring of the progress of project activities and ensure that targets are timely met
  3. Conduct regular support supervision visits to verify activities at the field stations; provide comprehensive reports on project progress for management
  4. Lead a team of project team members based at the project office
  5. Ensure preparation of quality and timely project progress reports including success stories to the donor
  6. Liaise and communicate effectively with project central management unit and other project stakeholders
  7. Participate in child protection network meetings at subnational and national levels
  8. Document all project activities and ensure comprehensive performance reports written and submitted in accordance with set schedule

Required education and experience

  • University degree relevant to child focused programming. A Masters degree is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience managing medium to large grants projects international non-government organizations
  • Experience managing high-quality donor funded project(s) such as the European Union, USAID
  • Experience in working in consortium of partners
  • Demonstrated skills in program planning, and all aspects of project management.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership and supervision of staff and in building and maintaining a high performing team.
  • Experience in promoting children’s rights including participation in programming, design, implementation and evaluation in either emergency and development settings.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments
