Job: Enterprise IP Operations Specialist

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
The main purpose of this role is to provide planning, designing, support operations and implement IP/ security changes in the infrastructure Domain to ensure that MTN achieves the predefined company objectives.
Main Job Functions:
- Design and effectively installing, configuring and maintaining Enterprise Network Infrastructure in accordance with business requirements and timelines.
- Deploy MTN Uganda safe enterprise LANs, WANs, wireless networks, and Firewalls.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
- Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Design, implement, and maintain VOIP phone system to include phone servers, phones.
- Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling IT Department objectives and processes.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
- Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment and other network appliances.
- Asset Management, updated infrastructure inventory and documentation: LLDs and HLDs
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Participate in managing all network security solutions.
- Perform security audits, and backups and Proficiently preparing the relevant IT Enterprise Network Infrastructure for all IT Applications required for business.
- Engaging in continuous Network Infrastructure maintenance and upgrades and, support migration of any application changes throughout the course of the application development lifecycle to ensure that applications are performing to optimal efficiency.
- Constantly monitoring and maintaining the health of Enterprise Network Infrastructure through conducting thorough research and resolution of any reported issues to maximize efficiency of the Infrastructure for users at all times and within the SLAs.
- Actively participating in IT projects and initiatives through rebuilding/cloning the test environments, building stress testing plans, and monitoring application performance in accordance with company standards and established procedures.
- Design and develop and maintaining a precise and comprehensive procedural and process documentation for all Enterprise Network Infrastructure.
- Efficiently managing and maintain all Networks development migrations to the production environments within the required timelines.
- Serves as the first point of contact for Enterprise escalations, establishes, and maintains an effective relationship with the Vendor to ensure that all critical issues are brought to a rapid resolution in accordance with established SLAs.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Telecom Engineering, or related field
- Relevant certification / accreditation i.e., Business process Framework training like ITIL, etc.
- IP Network/ Security certifications i.e., CCNA, CCNP, CCIP, etc.
Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in IP with in a fast and stressful environment, Plus 3 years in process driven environments
- 3 years’ experience in ISP and Data centre infrastructure
