ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR

 Prime Vocational Institute (PVI) is a Private Training Institution registered by Ministry of Education & Sports Reg: No TVET/3/P24045.  Since 2012, PVI has been promoting access to market-oriented vocational training for gainful employment among the unemployed youth in Uganda. The Institute offers National Certificate Courses under the UBTEB, and skill based short courses under DIT. PVI has trained3600 youth (35% female) in various trades.  PVI mission is to produce holistically skilled technicians and entrepreneurs for gainful employment and career advancement with a vision to be a Centre of Excellence for competence-based vocational training and enterprise development in the Region.”

PVI provides follow up support to her graduates through a flexible enterprise development, employment and market linkage program. The person in this position must have the energy and commitment to lead in an entrepreneurial environment.  The person must be willing and can fulfill multiple responsibilities. Under the direction of the PVI Director and/or the Business Manager, the Enterprise Development Facilitator is responsible for performing business development services, marketing linkages, finance and administrative tasks within the Institute and under Prime Skills Foundation following established standards and procedures.  This position requires abilities to plan, develop, organize, direct, and coordinate a range of activities related to enterprise development for individual entrepreneurs especially PVI graduates, youth enterprise groups and production units.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide leadership and training to individual entrepreneurs, enterprise groups and Savings and Loan Associations/Groups (VSLA) regarding financial matters and provide guidance in the understanding, interpretation, and application of financial information.
2. Prepare and deliver business training to micro, small and medium enterprises and other clients through coaching, mentorship and advisory services.
3. Update and post savings, loan repayments for members (individual and group records) to ensure financial records are accurate.
4. Monitor the activities and loan performance of the various VSLAs and individual group members ensuring compliance with appropriate byelaws, guidelines, PVI policies and procedures.
5. Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of funds, ensuring that loan payment is made to clients or members within a shortest period possible after approval.
6. Serve as the focal point for market development, enterprise development, and access to finance by remaining well-informed about emerging best practices, current issues and trends in assigned program and regional areas.
7. Follow up and track youth under apprenticeship and link them to employment opportunities.
8. Guide the planning and implementation of; marketing, information gathering, preparation of group business & action plans and establishment & strengthening of business linkages of the value chain actors.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship or a relevant business degree from a recognized Institution.
• At least two years of work experience in the related field.
• Ability to supervise and train enterprise group members and local partners, in business planning, financial procedures, and marketing.
• Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft office, internet, and use of electronic accounting packages.
• High integrity, excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn, understand and commit to the Mission and Vision of Prime Vocational Institute.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours when necessary.
• A self-starter who can take direction, problem solve, and follow through to achieve results.
• Preferred language is English as the official language and fluency in the local language will be an added advantage
