Hashtag Gulu Initiative is a youth-led nonprofit organization focused on supporting street-connected children and youths through rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration. The organization works to create an inclusive and peaceful society by mentoring individuals to become productive citizens and addressing the root causes of challenges through collaboration with parents and communities.

Job Purpose
Are you passionate about mental health and making a difference in the lives of others? The Counsellor will provide support and guidance to individuals facing personal, emotional, or psychological challenges, helping them develop coping strategies and improve their well-being.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Conduct one-on-one and group counseling sessions tailored to clients’ needs.
2. Create a safe, confidential, and supportive environment for clients to share concerns.

3. Help clients develop coping mechanisms and actionable plans for their issues.

4. Identify when clients require specialized care and provide appropriate referrals.
5. Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to ethical guidelines.

6. Participate in outreach programs, workshops, and mental health awareness activities.

7. Collaborate with professionals and community stakeholders to enhance client care.

Qualifications and Skills
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Certification:
• Licensed or certified to practice as a counselor.
Experience:
• At least 2–3 years of counseling experience.
Language Skills:
• Proficiency in Acholi or Lango is an added advantage.
Competencies:
1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to build trust and rapport with street-connected children and youths from diverse backgrounds.
3. Knowledge of counseling techniques, ethics, and confidentiality protocols.

4. Compassionate, non-judgmental, and committed to helping others.
