Accounts Assistant job at GOGO Electric

JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team by handling day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. This role is vital for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the smooth functioning of the finance department.

Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions in the accounting system.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and payable balances to ensure accuracy.

Bank Reconciliations
• Reconcile bank accounts regularly and ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in reconciliations and ensure all records are up-to-date.

General Ledger Maintenance
• Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger, ensuring entries are accurate and aligned with accounting standards.
• Support in posting journal entries and adjustments to ensure completeness of financial records
• Maintain accurate and organised records of financial transactions, receipts, and other relevant documents.
• Ensure data integrity and confidentiality of financial information

Expense Reporting
• Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring company policies and procedures compliance.
• Verify expense claims and ensure appropriate documentation is provided for all reimbursements.

Month-End Close
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Support the preparation of financial reports and ensure all month-end tasks are completed on time.
• Support in preparing and filing tax documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local tax regulations.
• Assist in gathering required information for tax returns and other statutory filings.

Financial Reporting
• Help prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in generating regular financial reports to provide insights into the company’s financial status.

Audit Support
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and clarifying financial details as needed.
• Ensure records are organized and accessible to support audit processes.

The Ideal Candidate
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Pursuing a CPA or ACCA is an added benefit
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines
