The Malengo scholarship program coordinator is the primary project manager for all Malengo activities within Uganda. The program coordinator is expected to be able to holistically manage all on-the-ground activities, with careful consideration of timing and budget, including program outreach, managing the application process, supervising and guiding accepted students, coordinating logistics involved in university applications/visas etc, managing and supervising data collection, ethics approvals, and funding applications, and developing and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholder.
The coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: leading and managing communication between Malengo/Busara and the government offices (interpol, embassies, ministry of education, etc), coordinating and leading project and financial reporting, coordinating all aspects of the scale-up of the program, communing with and guiding both students and parents in the program, leading the logistical field supervision of any data collection activities, supporting with research ethics and funding applications, supporting in maintaining the website and other communication material, and leading all aspects of administrative management of the project.
This is a one year project-based role with potential to extend depending on performance, project outcomes, and position availability. The expected start date is February 1, 2022.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

- On-the-ground management of the Malengo scholarship program.
- Coordination with all relevant stakeholders, including the students themselves, their parents/caregivers, partner organizations, and embassies.
- Development of organizational partnerships within Uganda, i.e. to improve the application process, document and visa retrieval, travel, or similar.
- Ethics application for research activities.
- Funding applications Logistical field supervision during data collection.
- Marketing and communication of the program in order to increase reach.
- Administrative tasks as part of the project work (i.e. accounting, cashfloat returns etc.)
- Maintenance of information (knowledge management), outside communication (i.e. Website) and finances.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Previous experience in managing/coordinating medium to large programs/projects.
- Experience in coordinating field research teams.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in project management roles strongly preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree in management, economics, social sciences, public policy, or related fields preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations.
- Excellent management and organizational skills.
- Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, a team player.
- Ugandan National or with authorization to work in Uganda.
