Assistant Legal Officer job at Makerere University

Job Purpose

Manage day-to-day operations of the Directorate by carrying out administrative functions and providing clerical support to the legal team.

Key, Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the conduct of legal-related research;
  2. Participate in compiling relevant recorded cases in courts of law;
  3. Assist in filing Court documents;
  4. Represent the Directorate in Evaluation Committee meetings and Bid openings;
  5. Draft Memoranda, Articles of Association and floating Companies;
  6. Assist in following up with Court matters, fix cases for hearing and keep the
  7. Legal Officers updated of their schedules;
  8. Assist in identifying Law reports, Legislation, Books and other reading materials for the Legal Unit Library;
  9. Keep records of all Council Policies, Statutes, Rules and Regulations;
  10. Assist in interviewing and collecting information necessary to draft pleadings;
  11. Liaise with External Lawyers, University Secretary and Legal Office on legal matters;
  12. Update Legal Officers on cases in Court;
