Activities
The job holder is responsible for:
• Implements appropriate strategy of engagement, based on a detailed SH mapping and in accordance with the topic and the level of the audience in the regularly updated Stakeholder Engagement Plan,
• The Job Holder organizes workshops / conferences / meetings/talk shows at different level either around a specific topic or as part of a general update,
• Works with partners to develop and implement engagements in the Tilenga project area based on agreed principles,
• The Job holder maintains a track record of all stakeholder engagements and follows-up on commitments using databases (contacts, engagements, issues, concerns, grievances),
• Ensure that reports for follow up actions are created after every engagement and shared with relevant stakeholders including Authorities through the Business Development department,
• Ensure stakeholders are given the opportunity to give their feedback on the engagement and adjusts the strategy accordingly,
• Support to ensure that monitoring and evaluations are undertaken by relevant stakeholders and the feedback and follow ups are undertaken and tracked,
• Supervise the production and distribution of appropriate venues of communication about the company and its activities, including alternative methods to communicate effectively with specific stakeholders (e.g. tourism stakeholders, local communities),
• Manage stock of communication devices and if required creates and develops appropriate ones. He/she coaches and advises CTLOs in appropriate communication techniques and tools towards communities, tourism stakeholders and other local stakeholders. The Job Holder works closely with relevant CSOs/NGOs supporting and advising the company in its stakeholder engagement strategy
• Ensure that all requirements related to national regulations, international best practice and the Company Referentials are adhered to.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Qualification:
• Degree in Communication, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Human Resources Management or related field
Experience:
• 10-15 years Professional experience working in the Stakeholder Engagement function especially with rural communities in Uganda, preferably within the Albertine area and/or with the tourism industry;
• Professional experience in liaising with any level of stakeholder (from Government to local community);
• Good strategic development and implementation skills.
• Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide range of stakeholders including authorities, local communities, industry, CSOs/NGOs and international organizations.
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Negotiation, conflict management skills.
• Good Computer skills; report writing and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of oil exploration and development activities and procedures.
• Fluency in local languages of Lake Albert area.
