Duty Station: Namanve, Kampala
Purpose:
The Senior Human Resources Officer will be responsible for performance management, training and development, leave management, and payroll management. The role ensures alignment of HR initiatives with organizational goals while fostering compliance, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the performance appraisal process, ensuring timely execution and compliance with organizational standards.
• Maintain accurate performance management records and ensure proper documentation for all employees.
• Monitor leave requests, balances, and utilization in alignment with company policies.
• Ensure accurate leave records are maintained and regularly updated in the HR system.
• Address leave-related queries from employees and provide guidance on leave policies.
• Prepare periodic leave reports for management review, highlighting trends and potential policy adjustments.
• Coordinate training programs, including logistics, attendance, materials, and follow-up evaluations.
• Monitor and update training calendars and competency matrices.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and recommend improvements.
• Track training bonds and ensure compliance with agreements.
• Provide accurate employee data, including salary changes, deductions, and adjustments, to the Finance Department for payroll processing.
• Ensure payroll records are up-to-date and compliant with labor laws and company policies.
• Address employee inquiries related to payroll, ensuring timely resolution.
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing HR policies and procedures to align with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all HR practices comply with labor laws, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Support internal audits and compliance checks, maintaining proper documentation and records.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Resource Management, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or Management.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (added advantage).
• Membership to the HRMAU (Human Resources Association of Uganda) is recommended.
• 3–4 years’ experience in a large manufacturing organization.
• Knowledge of HR functions (Performance Management, Training & Development, etc.).
• Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
