POST: PROTECTION OFFICER (LEGAL)

AGE: 21 -45 YEARS

DURATION: 05 MONTHS

SALARY SCALE: PROJECT SCALE

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL SETTLEMENT OFFICER

LOCATION: KAMPALA

NUMBER OF POSTS: 01

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE

Applicant should be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University.

A post graduate diploma in Legal practice is a MUST

Two (2) years relevant working experience.

DUTIES

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Settlement Officer while performing the following duties

1. Provide legal advice/counsel on refugee protection.
2. Provide legal assistance and follow up refugee cases in courts of law.
3. Liaise with head of registration on related complaints.
4. Conducts regular prison visits in Kampala and its environs to assess protection needs and concerns of refugees under custody.
5. Support OPM/DoR field offices on legal matters affecting refugees.
6. Perform other duties assigned from time to time.
