Job Description
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing the monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning framework of projects. The M&E Officer will develop a systematic monitoring framework to improve the qualitative and quantitative evidence gathered by the project. This role includes ensuring that project activities are on track and providing technical assistance and capacity building in M&E to project staff and partners
Roles and responsibilities
Design and Implement M&E Framework:
- Develop and implement a robust M&E framework that aligns with the project’s goals and objectives.
- Design data collection tools, methodologies, and processes to ensure comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Oversee the collection of data, including surveys, focus groups, interviews, and field visits.
- Ensure data quality through regular verification and validation processes.
- Analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to assess project performance and impact.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular M&E reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices for internal and external dissemination.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors and stakeholders as required
Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor project activities, outputs, and outcomes against established indicators and targets.
- Track progress towards achieving project objectives and identify any issues or challenges.
- Provide regular feedback to project staff and management on project performance. Capacity Building:
- Provide training and technical assistance to project staff and local partners on M&E concepts, tools, and processes.
- Build the capacity of local partners to effectively implement M&E activities.
Evaluation and Learning:
- Coordinate internal and external evaluations of the project to assess its effectiveness and impact.
- Facilitate learning and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote the use of M&E findings for project improvement.
- Develop and disseminate M&E guidelines and tools to enhance learning and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with project stakeholders, including beneficiaries, partners, and donors.
- Engage stakeholders in the design and implementation of M&E activities. Required Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, statistics, economics, international development, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably with international development projects.
- Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to design and implement data collection tools and methodologies.
- Experience in capacity building and training.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
