Job Description
The Logistics Officer role is a full-time in-country role reporting directly to the Managing Director. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Logistics and export for cocoa
- Responsible for arranging logistics for cocoa exports.
- Manage and Supervise the loading of containers.
- Responsible for handling all export documentation.
- In charge of updating the Managing Director and customers on the export status.
Chocolate order fulfillment logistics and documentation.
- Arrange logistics, documentation, and clearing for air freight shipments.
- Arrange logistics, documentation, and clearing for Rwanda and Kenya road shipments.
- Responsible for negotiating cargo and freight rates for shipments.
- Support fulfillment of local orders.
Tours, customer visits and associated logistics.
- Responsible for handling visits of incoming foreign customers, auditors, and investors.
- Manage bookings, handling guides, arranging vehicles.
- Arrange and communicating itineraries, booking permits, etc.
Warehouse/Stock oversight and General Support.
- Support MD in regular oversight of Latitude warehouses and inventory management.
- Conduct routine monthly visits to audit cocoa stock and warehouse management at various premises.
- Conduct Routine monthly checks on Kampala chocolate stock
Procurement Management:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure the acquisition of quality goods and services.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Monitor and control procurement budgets and expenditures.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in procurement and logistics, preferably within the development or humanitarian sector.
- Strong knowledge of procurement and logistics best practices.
- Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure. Attention to detail and accuracy.
