JOB DETAILS:
The Kampala Business Lounge is a new project set to open in Downtown Kampala in July.
We would like to get the team ready so that training can take place and have the hired staff present from inception and thus able to fit into the system.

Position: Kitchen Staff (Cooks and Stewards)

Job summary:
The kitchen staff play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our restaurant. The kitchen staff is responsible for assisting in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, and ensuring that all food safety and sanitation standards are met. They will work closely with other kitchen team members to deliver high quality dishes and exceptional service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and portioning ingredients, according to recipes and instructions provided by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
2. Cooking Assistance: Support the chefs during service times by cooking simple dishes, such as appetizers, salads, or sides, as directed.

3. Dishwashing: Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using proper sanitation methods and always ensuring cleanliness.
4. Kitchen Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including cleaning countertops, floors, and equipment, as well as disposing of waste properly.

5. Stocking and Inventory: Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, rotating stock, and maintaining inventory levels to ensure that ingredients are readily available for cooking.

6. Assistance in Service: Assist with plating dishes, garnishing plates, and ensuring that all orders are prepared accurately and in a timely manner during service times.

7. Compliance with Safety Regulations: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling of food, storage of hazardous materials, and cleaning procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:
1. Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment preferred.
2. Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment operation.
3. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
4. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
5. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
