Business Support Officer job at Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide first-level support to users for IT-related problems, record all incidents and follow them up to resolution.
• Support in management and maintenance of URSB ICT infrastructure including LANs and WANs, Wi-Fi, networks, computers, laptops and other devices across the organization.
• Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
• Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.
• Provide support in a face-to-face capacity, over the phone or via remote desktop software, helping staff or clients set up systems or resolve issues.
• Support the roll-out of new applications or systems with the organisation by testing and evaluating new technologies.
• Train users on new technologies implemented by the organization.Ensure compliance and adherence to ICT policies and procedures.
• Execute the operational plans for the ICT systems and manage the inventory of all assets.
• Prepare periodic reports in line with the organization’s reporting guidelines.
• Any other duties assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Key Outputs

• To provide overall IT support to the office by installing, and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and application problems for the users.

Qualification and Experience

• An Honors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Relevant certifications in business processes, IT systems, and customer support is an added advantage.

Personal Specification

•  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer software applications.
• Ability to liaise and network with other Government Departments.
