Post: Manager Research
The position is a senior post in UWRTI and the Manager Research shall hold office for four years renewable.
Salary Scale: U1E
Key Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Coordinates the development and operationalization of the institute research policy (s)
(ii) Leads the development, review and implementation of research agenda of the institute
(iii) Leads the development of bankable research project proposals
(iv) Leads the development of relevant research for wildlife training and conservation
(v) Provides consultancy for wildlife research and conservation
(vi) Supports the mobilization of research funding
(vii) Builds partnerships with other research institutions
(viii) Leads the dissemination of research findings
(ix) Leads collaborative efforts for the uptake of research innovations
(x)Supports capacity building of staff in wildlife research
(xi) Leads the development and implementation of research quality assurance frame work for the institute
(xii) Establish and maintain the data base on wildlife research in Uganda
(xiii) Coordinates the development of departmental plans, budgets and reports
(xiv) Supervises and appraise staff in the department
Eligibility
The person eligible for appointment should possess the following attributes:
(i) An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Health and Management or related fields from recognized institutions.
(ii) Master of Science in the above-mentioned fields from recognized Institution.
(iii) PhD in the in the above-mentioned fields from a recognised Institution.
(iv) At least 7 relevant peer reviewed publications
(v) Be at least of the rank of Principal/Senior Officer level or its equivalent at the time of application;
(vi) Six (3) years of Managerial ability in Higher Education or Research Institution with at least track record of having served as Head of academic Department or Research Project Manager;
(vii) Be a citizen of Uganda with a valid national identity card
(viii) Evidence of contribution to the community
(ix) Not above 55 Years
(x) Be a citizen of Uganda with a valid national identity card
