National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament in 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to health facilities.

Job Title: Pharmacist-Regions
Reports to: Senior Pharmacist Regions
Job Grade: Grade 05
Job Classification: Senior/Specialist
Job Purpose: To provide technical support in the management of Essential Medicines and Health Supplies (EMHS) in all health facilities in regions.
Responsible for: None
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support Supervision of Health Facilities by ensuring compliance with SOPs for management and use of Essential Medicines and Health Supplies.
- Build capacity of Health Facilities through execution of quality improvement programs, including trainings, workshops, on-site technical assistance and specific, focused interventions including the Medicines and Therapeutics Committees program, Needs Analysis, Quantification and Procurement Planning Program and other interventions.
- Working in conjunction with the Senior Pharmacist – Regions (SP-R), develop technical documents, abstracts, presentations, and other reports documenting the findings related to the management of Essential Medicines and Health Supplies at Health Facilities.
- Support the SP-R to maintain continuous dialogue on matters relating to Health Facility quality improvement programs to relevant Stakeholders in the assigned NMS Region.
- With support from the Monitoring and Evaluation Section, and in conjunction with the SP-R, monitor, evaluate and report progress of Health Facility quality improvement programs against set objectives and recommend revisions as necessary.
- Identify any risks noted during execution of duties and formally report to the immediate supervisor.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
- Should be a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda and registered by the Pharmacy Board.
- A valid Driver’s license shall be an added advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 4 years working experience in a related field. with at least 2 years’ experience at supervisory level.
