Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the financial controller in financial reports preparation and reviews.
  • Oversee the accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely payment of suppliers and receipt of income for the airline.
  • Ensure timely preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and reviews to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Drive the month-end closure process and ensure all balance sheet positions and profit and loss accounts are aligned as per expectation.
  • Manage petty cash and ensure timely disbursement and reconciliation at the Head office and outstations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate capture of journal entries and appropriate approvals are obtained before posting.
  • Review the general ledger and ensure that all transactions have been captured as per international accounting standards.
  • Assist the financial controller in ensuring monthly tax returns and payments are made within the stipulated timelines as per regulations.
  • Assist in payroll review and accuracy to ensure appropriate deductions are made as per the statutory requirements.
  • Assist the financial controller in monthly financial report preparation.
  • Be key liaison for both internal and external auditors/ reviewers and ensure timely submission of requirements as stipulated in the schedule.
  • Ensure that accounting for fixed assets is done as per the international accounting standards and as per the reporting framework of the airline industry.
  • Ensure that inventory/stock of engineering and other stock items is accounted for and valued according to the acceptable accounting framework.
  • Drive supplier statement reconciliations and ensure that timely and accurate payments are made to the vendors.
  • Ensure timely update of the ERP system with key static data for the processing of payments.
  • Assist the financial controller in the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and annual reports.

Education and Experience

  • Must hold a degree in Finance, business administration, statistics or a related field.
  • A Professional qualification ACCA/CPA is an added advantage.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Conversant in Oracle Fusion, search Microsoft Office suite, specifically MS-Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word etc.).
