Job Purpose:
The provide strategic leadership for UETCL by working with the Board of Directors and Management to set strategic goals. Create vision, enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization in a manner that improves the overall operational effectiveness of UETCL. Achieve business objectives for high level of safe, reliable and economic operation of Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited.

Specific duties/Accountabilities/Key Result Areas:
• Provide strategic leadership to the Management Team and all Employees and develop a succession plan for the organization. Handle all Talent and Performance Management matters of direct reports.
• Ensure business process efficiency by identifying and reviewing strategic Processes for the company and ensure timely implementation of company plans.
• Develop long term strategic and annual business plan in line with the approved organization strategy.
• Build and maintain a productive relationship with all Key Stakeholders including but not limited to Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Board of Directors, ERA, Distributors and Generators to attain a high customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Manage key customer and stakeholder relationships and ensure key objectives are met by all parties concerned. 6. Ensure the operations of UETCL are within the approved budget and facilitate the annual budgeting process

Education, Work Experience & competences

• Minimum level of education of honors Degree (Bachelor Level) in Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, Management, Finance and Accounting, Statistics or Law.
• Must hold a Master’s Degree in any of the fields mentioned above.
• Must be a registered member of a professional body e.g., ERB, IEEE, IPPU, IRB, ICPAU, ACCA, CFA, ULS. (iv) At least seven (7) years of experience as a member of Senior Management in the Electricity Sector in Uganda.
• Excellent knowledge in electricity regulatory matters and ability to network with peers in the industry and the Regulators. Demonstrable experience in defending budgets before the Regulator of the Electricity Sector
• Experience in corporate governance of a public enterprise
• Strong and demonstrable Leadership skills
• Highly innovative with the ability to drive staff initiatives with an aim of achieving the organization’s strategic plan
• Good planning skills to translate, develop and establish goals compatible with the strategic objectives.
• Should be a person of strong repute and social standing and should not have any criminal or integrity case against them in the courts of law.
• Demonstrable level of commitment and strong team working skills.
• Experience in successfully negotiating Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contracts.
• Experience in successfully negotiating Power Purchase Agreements.
