Job Title: Manager – Brand
Reporting to: Senior Manager-Brand & Communications

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
Responsible for the overall development and execution of the MTN Brand Communications initiatives in the marketplace to promote awareness and positive imagery for the purpose of customer retention and continued growth of the company. The job scope includes responsibilities to the following teams: segments, sponsorships, events and all internal stake holder demands.
Main Job Functions:
- End to end agency management and internal design team for Internal, Brand, Segments, CSR, and Sponsorship/Events plans
- Managing the briefing, campaign design and media/channel management process
- To ensure MTNU advertising complies with Group CI
- Participate in the identification of suitable third-party suppliers, in consultation
with the Senior Manager – Brand & Communications, advertising agency and the procurement team.
- Put in place remedial action in case of non-performance.
- Understand and ensure compliance to MTN Uganda’s approval processes were applicable
- Implement Internal, Brand, Segments, CSR and Sponsorship/Events plans incl. management of the communication calendar
- Implement agreed activities and launches as per the approved guidelines.
- Continually monitor and evaluate own performance against set implementation plan and targets.
- Ensuring achievement of set targets
- Continuously come up with new ideas
- Implement segment marketing and retail plans incl. management of the activity calendar:
- Translate segment marketing plans into activity plans and schedules in consultation with segments teams and with the approval of the Senior Manager – Brand & Communications and taking into consideration the customer and market insights
- Continually monitor and evaluate own performance against set implementation plan and targets
- Implement agreed activities, launches and promotional campaigns as per the approved schedules.
- Ensuring achievement of set targets
- Recommend new ideas based on feedback from within and out of MTN
- Create and maintain a dynamic and consistent brand positioning, image, and presence within MTN, the Brand, the Brand’s CSR initiatives and Sponsorships/Events
- Make brand MTN tangible by giving expression to its positioning statement and essence within audiences.
- Budget tracking and information management
- Develop activity budgets that are in conformity with the department’s marketing budgets and the unit’s marketing plan
- Track expenditure against the approved budget and highlight problem areas for action.
- Prepare and submit periodical expenditure reports to the Senior Manager – Brand & Communications.
- Maintain prudent information management and documentation processes.
- Support the Senior Manager – Brand & communications in driving overall advertising agency performance
The Brand Manager will also;
- Acquaint themselves with the brand and commercial targets that the company aims to
- achieve and the brand building activities, contribute to achieve these objectives
- Continuously seek the guidance of related stakeholders including the supervisor, CMO and other related positions to align and get insights in their plans and execution
- The incumbent should strive to always employ a strong sense of attention and strong eye to detail in planning and during execution
- Strive to build interdepartmental collaborations to build brand love and attitude both within internal external stakeholders
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education and Experience:
- Between 2 to 3 years marketing experience in a competitive FMCG environment.
- Previous exposure working with or for advertising agencies
Other Training/Skills:
- Must have a strong sense of attention to detail
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills
- Resilient & capable of working long hours
- Organizational, inter-personal and co-ordination skills
- Must be organized and process oriented
