Senior Entomologist at Ministry of Agriculture, Animal & Fisheries

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology and Botany with an option in Entomology from a recognized University / Institution. A Post Graduate Diploma in the above fields will be an added advantage.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience at the level of Entomologist in Government or a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Entomologist for performing the following duties:-

–      Planning, coordinating and undertaking national tsetse/tick surveillance, control and eradication activities;

–      Assessing levels of success and economic impact of tsetse and tick control measures employed;

–      Collecting data on tsetse and tick infestation, population density and species composition on a regular basis and updating the National Animal disease Vector data base;

–      Providing technical back –up on control of tsetse flies, ticks and other livestock biting flies;

–      Carrying out awareness programs on tsetse flies and Trypanosomiasis, ticks and tick-borne disease at all levels;

–      Preparing work plans, budgets and reports pertaining to tsetse fly and tick control activities;

–      Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
