Special conditions

Some travel will be required between the SPOUTS head office, the factory at Nakawuka, other parts of Uganda and sometimes within East Africa in response to the business demands.

Position Summary

Formulate operational strategies that enhance synergy, support performance improvement, plan and manage procurement for all SPOUTS needs, Inventory Control and Management, Logistics, and secure efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring all processes remain legally enforceable and compliant.

JOB PROFILE

Duties and Responsibilities

Procurement

  • Create partnerships with suppliers to obtain a cost-effective service to enhance a competitive edge at SPOUTS operational processes.
  • Design a procurement policy with an adhesive cohesion to other functional segments and units.

Inventory

  • Create an inventory system that allows monitoring of stock levels and determine economic order quantities at all business locations.
  • Monitor performance for all stock items at all times while ensuring correct ageing, stocking, and product performance.
  • Safeguard all items (Stock) from any misuse, only for effective, efficient and authorized utilization at SPOUTS.

Logistics

  • Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures for receiving products, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping methods.

Tactical and Operational

  • Design and implement a control environment that enforces risk management in all business operations including the safeguard for all SPOUTS assets.
  • Provide operations inputs and recommendations to strategic plans, prepare and complete action plans, resolve problems, complete department audits, identify and perform trend analysis, and coordinate operations budget process on all variables that enhance SPOUTS strategy as per set objectives.
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate and cost-effective manner to enhance SPOUTS’ Vision and Mission.
  • Review for relevancy of all processes and policies at all times while ensuring they are all applicable and enforceable to the control environment.
  • Mentor, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and take disciplinary actions on employees as may be appropriate.
  • Review performance for all the team and ensure that all staff are equipped with relevant tools and skills to perform their tasks.
  • Forecast requirements, prepare department budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions on all odds.
  • Provide all operations performance reports timely and as may be required.
  • Any other duty as shall be assigned by management.

  • Fully proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

Qualifications/Experience

  • Ability to create and maintain an efficient system of operations to support the business needsshould be comfortable multitasking and working cross-functionally with different business units and must have previous experience in related fields.
  • At least 5 years of extensive experience in managing inventory, logistics and supply chain, especially with FMCGs.
  • A University degree in Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management or similar is desirable. Experience in a similar role will be an added advantage.

Language requirements

High level of competence in spoken and written English language skills.

Competence in spoken Luganda language is an advantage but not essential.
