Role Title: Physician/Medical Officer
Reports to: Executive Director
Role definition: To provide technical guidance at the clinic and to MJAP supported health facilities in planning, implementing, and monitoring of comprehensive quality HIV care and treatment services.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Take lead and coordinate the provision of quality HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment services in all the supported health facilities aligned with updated guidelines and SOPs
2. Lead the planning, budgeting and execution of Care and Treatment activities in collaboration with program coordinators and other stakeholders
3. Support health facilities to conduct performance reviews, identify best practices and performance gaps and apply continuous quality improvement methods to HIV/TB Care and Treatment and participate in continuous medical education through training, coaching and mentoring of health workers
4. Coordinate and conduct periodic stakeholder HIV and TB Care and Treatment meetings aimed at promoting collaboration, learning and adaptation (CLA) among stakeholders
5. Provide technical assistance aimed at strengthening the quality of health services and data through supportive supervision and monitoring visit to the supported health facilities
6. Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarterly and annual reports on HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment services to the supervisor and relevant stakeholders.
7. Participate in activities under other program areas as will be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Job specifications
A Master’s degree in Internal Medicine with training in Health Systems Strengthening and Management.
3 years’ relevant experience preferably in health development at a senior management position, with a reputable international NGO.
3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care, and support of, eMTCT, HIV/TB, Community Linkages and health systems strengthening.
2 years’ experience of implementing continuous quality improvement (CQI) strategies in the health sector.
Ability to build and maintain working relationships with colleagues in government agencies, NGOs, and other actors.
Key personal competences
Practical experience of working with MOH, DHOs and Community level Health structures in HIV Care and Treatment.
Excellent team work, communication skills (both oral and written) with strong management and analytical skills.
Must be dynamic, self-motivated, demonstrate high initiative and be persuasive.
Excellent report writing skills
MS office Computer packages
Ability to work in a rural setting
