Job Title: Research Officer (full time)
Reporting to: The Acting Director, School of Post Graduate studies, Research and Innovations
Job Summary
The candidate will be responsible for the development, initiation, designing and delivery of programmes of high-quality research into relevant projects in adherence to established standard operating procedures and ethical requirements.
SUMMARY OF KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare, review and implement standard operating procedures for research development; as well as spearheading community outreach programmes in collaboration with other University departments; participate and contribute to curriculum planning, development, and review;
2. Maintain accurate files and records, both computerized and manual; writing research reports and abstracts and prepare them for publication;
3. Assist with routine data analysis and interpretation using appropriate data analysis programs; and ensure that study results are recorded, analyzed and written up in a timely manner;
4. Oversee the setting up and running of the planned studies, experiments, and ensure that they are appropriately supervised and supported;
5. Seek new areas of research and assist in preparing and submitting research proposals that enhance the reputation of Clarke International University.
6. Assist in the identification of funding sources, and oversee the processes of securing funds; as well as managing research grants in accordance with established financial management guidelines and the conditions of the funding body.
7. Timely preparation and submission of research activities reports to the immediate supervisor for review purposes;
8. Prepare publications such as papers, journals, text books and attend; and disseminate findings to appropriate audiences using appropriate media to promote understanding;
9. Support the preparation and, monitor the implementation of financial budgets in adherence with established financial management guidelines of IHSU;
10. Actively participate in departmental and CIU meetings and committees etc. where required.
11. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the line manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications; – A Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health with relevant professional experience in Grants writing and Resource mobilization.
Experience: – Four (04) years’ working experience in Research and Grants writing.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to a wide variety of recipients.
Ability to research and analyze data with close attention to detail/precision
Excellent leadership and management skills.
Demonstrated distinction in research, training, innovation and strategy.
Ability to review, process and interpret highly technical information
Flexibility to work within a multi-cultural environment
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and deadlines with a strong work ethic
A polite and courteous manner is essential.
