Job Summary:
He/She is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the maintenance processes and approved maintenance program for the aircraft types operated by Uganda Airlines. The Engineer will ensure that the daily performance of the Aircraft and Aircraft components is monitored in accordance with Uganda Airlines Reliability Program. They shall also be the primary source of all reliability program management issues related to the fleet.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform reliability data analysis, interpretation, and reporting
- Monitor alert levels and ensure early identification and prevention of systems and components malfunctions.
- Monitor actions and follow-ups for systems/power plants/PIREPS to ensure scheduled Aircraft operations are not prejudiced.
- Monitor maintenance reliability of Aircraft and components, compiling reliability data as required.
- Generate and distribute reliability reports to assist in internal organization and decision-making processes in relation to troubleshooting and calculation of inventory control economic order quantities.
- Recommend time adjustment intervals for scheduled engine maintenance requirements.
- Recommend and coordinate immediate corrective actions on critical failures in which loss of functions could affect the airworthiness of the Aircraft.
- Recommend and coordinate appropriate corrective action to restore performance to an acceptable level in cases where a deviation from the performance standard is indicated.
- Review shop visit reports, flight interruptions and other reliability data sources and extract applicable and relevant reliability data.
- Work with the Power plant Development Engineer to ensure Engine Condition Trend Monitoring and Engine Health monitoring are performed, and results are considered and used to analyse fleet performance.
- Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions implemented to address reliability findings
- Prepare, as necessary, substantiation reports to justify maintenance control changes.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
- A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering (Aeronautics) from a recognized University.
- An equivalent qualification from a recognized aviation maintenance training school
- Knowledge in Operations Management and Engineering Statistical methods are highly desired.
- Knowledge and experience will be an added advantage.
- Equivalent working experience of at least 3 years in Aircraft Engineering and maintenance organization.
- Advanced skills in computer applications, MS Word, PowerPoint will be an added advantage.
- Evidence of high levels of analytical skills will be an added advantage.
