Job: Social Worker (Fresher Job Vacancies)

About US:

Walimu is a non-profit organization whose overall goal is to improve care of hospitalised severely ill patients in Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Social worker will mainly be responsible for obtaining samples from consenting patients, providing counseling services to study participants and to provide TB education to patients enrolled in the study.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Provide TB education to patients enrolled in the study
• Provide counseling to study patients
• Consenting and enrolling eligible patients into the study
• Obtaining biological samples from consenting patients for testing.
• Participate in data entry and cleaning
• Participate in weekly meetings with the study team to provide enrollment updates.
• Assist in following up study participants and follow up visits
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a reputable Institution
• Two years of progressive work experience as a Nurse
• Registered with Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council with a valid Practicing license.
• Trained in Good Clinical Practice/ Human Subjects Protection

• Excellent command of both English and Luganda
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
• Excels at operating in a diverse work environment
• Experience in working in a research setting is an added advantage
