Job Summary: The Pediatric & Adolescent CQI Collaborative Coaches will work with assigned health facility staff to provide mentorship for the scale up of Early Infant Diagnosis and linkage to care, case finding of HIV positive children and adolescents, linking and initiating them to optimal ART regimen, timely viral load monitoring, support for retention and adherence using Quality Improvement (QI) approaches that will result in attaining improved viral suppression. S/he will work in close collaboration with district QI committees, District Health Teams (DHT), Facility QI and Work Improvement Teams (WIT), facility in charges, ART and PMTCT teams, expert clients (Mentor Mothers, YAPS and adolescent peers) to use facility-level data to identify and address gaps along the HEI/EID & pediatric and adolescent HIV clinical care cascade.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop workplans and support supervision schedules for activities intended to support the collaborative indicators.
- He/she will work with the existing structures of the regional and district coaches to support the coaching visits and monthly data use meetings.
- He/she will build capacity of the paediatric focused coaches to implement strategies that support achievement of the collaborative indicators.
- She/He will be responsible for keeping the data base of all the improvement aims done at facilities for the different paediatric collaborative indicators.
- Provide technical guidance to the Paediatric coaches and the sites teams they work with.
- Monitoring collaborative field activities in the prioritized districts/ facilities.
- Budget for the collaborative activities, workplans and review of accountabilities.
- Work with district administrative structures to ensure smooth running of paediatric collaborative activities.
- Support data management for collaborative indicators & Prepare progress reports.
- Plan and organize review meetings and learning sessions for the participating districts.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health or Nursing from a recognized Institution .
- Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council or Nursing council.
- Must have a valid practicing license.
- Successful candidate will have experience in conducting targeted mentorship and coaching activities along the pediatric, HEI/EID and adolescent HIV prevention, care and treatment cascade using the current HIV care and treatment, eMTCT guidelines and other available Ministry of Health guidelines and tools.
- Two years’ service delivery experience, especially in HIV prevention, care, and treatment; and quality improvement approaches at district and/or health facility level.
- Clear understanding of current Uganda ART guidelines, Differentiated Service Delivery Models (DSDM) guidelines and pediatric ART optimization guidelines.
- Experience in using data to improve program performance and/or supporting facility-based quality improvement teams.
- Advanced Office package computer skills.
- Ability to ride a Motorcycle.
